Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) confirms that flight BI684 which departed Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for Bandar Seri Begawan on schedule at 15:05 (local time), experienced abnormal readings on one engine shortly after take off. As a safety precaution and in accordance with standard operating procedures, the captain decided to return back to Manila to enable technical checks to be completed. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines, landed back safely at NAIA and all 152 passengers were safely disembarked at the terminal. A number of passengers have already been re-routed to their final destination and all remaining passengers will be provided with overnight hotel accommodation.
