Royal Brunei Airlines launches first ever non-stop London – Brunei flight

29 October 2018, London Heathrow Airport: Royal Brunei Airlines is celebrating the successful launch of its daily non-stop London Heathrow-Brunei service, following the inaugural flight on 28 October 2018.
The first Brunei-London Heathrow flight, which landed yesterday morning at 06:50hrs, marks the first time in history the two nations have been connected by a direct air link. Operated with one of Royal Brunei’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners that features lower cabin altitude, low noise and less turbulence and this helps to reduce jet lag for our guests. Royal Brunei’s award-winning inflight services, coupled with 1,000 entertainment options at every seat has been designed to ensure our guest needs are met.
Royal Brunei’s new service is also a one-stop journey to Melbourne, providing new options for travellers wanting to visit the land down under. The flight time for the non-stop London-Brunei route is 13.6 hours, and the London-Brunei-Melbourne journey is 22.2 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 24.3 hours on other days. The departure times will be standardised ex London Heathrow as soon as practical.
Royal Brunei’s CEO, Karam Chand, arrived on yesterday’s inaugural morning flight to join the celebrations at London Heathrow. Chand says: “This has been a very significant day for the UK and for Asia. Tourism to Brunei is at a record high, and the start of our non-stop flights will help increase this even further as well as position Royal Brunei Airlines as the go-to carrier for South East Asian travel.
“Our daily evening departures from Heathrow are timed to allow guests to maximise time spent in the destination, with an afternoon/evening arrival. Passengers connecting to Melbourne then just have a seven-hour flight from Brunei, departing daily at 19:20 Brunei local time and arriving at 05:20 local time in Melbourne.”
At London Heathrow yesterday, guests departing on the inaugural evening London-Brunei flight were greeted with cupcakes and festivities at check-in. Cabin crew wore the Bruneian national flower, the Simpur, and took part in a Royal Brunei video and photoshoot.

In fact, Royal Brunei’s Melbourne-Brunei-London Heathrow flight is the shortest possible route, with a great-circle distance measurement of 100%, the most direct possible routing of all the other well-known stopover points from the UK to Asia Pacific.”
The lead-in fare for London Heathrow-Brunei is £629 economy return per person. The lead-in fare for the London Heathrow-Brunei-Melbourne route starts from £673 economy return per person. These prices are based on departures on several dates including 11 November 2018.
